Is it normal to be angry at this?

*please ik this is immature don't comment* so my and my sister got to open our Christmas gifts early at our grammas. I had specifically asked for a wreck this journal. When we opened our things, my sister got the wreck this journal and I got something else by that author. My grammar asked me if that's what I wanted because she didn't know. I felt so angry because it says in big letters WRECK THIS JOURNAL. Being the person I am, all I said was that it wasn't exactly but it was okay. is it normal to feel angry and sad about this?

    • ...that's the gift that just keeps on giving...

  • She probably got your gifts mixed up because she's an old woman whose brain is not functioning like it did when she was younger. I highly doubt she did it on purpose to make you angry.

You got her back, though; when you said, "wasn't exactly [it] but it was okay". I hope insulting her like that made you feel better.

Maybe in the future you could be more gracious. Act like you *sincerely* appreciate their kind act of giving, even if you didn't.

    • How is that insulting gosh I told the truth. It's not like I threw a fit and told her I hated it.

      • Really? You honestly can't fathom how your response to your grandmother would be insulting to her?

Well, congratulations for not throwing a fit and telling how you truly felt. I hope the people whom you dearly love in your lifetime react exactly how you have with your grandmother, especially after you've gone through the trouble of giving them a gift you thought they wanted. With some luck, you might avoid giving gifts they don't want.

Then maybe she's a sadist and basked in your heartbreak. That's a priceless gift, Unlike cheap shower gel and illegible teen boy cursive scribblins.

it's totally normal. we all get frustrated by things that we know we shouldn't be. it seems like your anger is not very intense.. i would call it more irritation. Sometimes you feel a little irritated even though you know you shouldn't

and you know you shouldn't because you know your grandma just made a mistake, and she'd be upset if she realized her mistake. You know her heart and her intentions.

It's okay to feel irritation at little things. Just know the difference between that and actually blaming someone for wronging you.
For example I get frustrated all the time when say I'm in a hurry to check out at Walgreens and someone gets in line just before me and then takes a long time for whatever reason--but i know it's not fair to blame that person, it was just bad luck of ending up behind them. They did nothing wrong. I think that's what you're experiencing--
you're just a tad frustrated that your grandma went through the effort of asking and then got it mixed up, but you're not actually mad AT her.

I actually know how this feels(with my mom and sister). I WAS thankful for the things I did get, but it kind of felt like "Does anyone even listen to me?" and that's the part that hurt.

'Mess' and 'This is not a book' are also good books.

I wish your grammar would give you better gifts.

      • You spelled grandma as "grammar" in your post.
And you also wrote: "my and my sister".
