Is it normal to be angry at race jokes when no one else is?

In school I am one of the only black people in my whole school. It annoys me sometimes when boys will make very racist jokes about black people. They will add onto negative sterotypes that already exist and will laugh shamelessly. I doubt that they mean anything personaly to me but it makes me very angry sometimes. Is it wierd for me to feel this way when the two other black kids act very calm about it?

    yeah racist comments really piss me off at how ignorant some people are. and there not even normally aimed at me (im white btw)

    Any joke that puts other people down, whether it be race, religion, gender, sexual preference, etc, it pisses me off.

    I get what you mean. I'm white and my dad often makes jokes about black people or Asians and it really annoys me because I think why are you any better than everyone else while you're just making fun of them and you're the dumb one? I used to get pissed every time he made another stupid racist joke, but now I just ignore it, and I think that's the best you can do, because I've told my dad a million times to stop because it makes no sense and he won't stop and I think neither will the people in your school. I get that you feel offended, but the best you can do is just ignore it, and if you don't want to hear it anymore just walk away, because they'll always keep thinking that they're funny even thought they're not.

    Racist jokes mean absolutely nothing to me. In fact, I laugh with those who make jokes about my race (black).

    Racist comments and jokes are made by people who have low self esteem and are trying to bring themselves up in the pack. Its pathetic and in no way civilized or right. You have every right to be offended. I dont have alot of advice on what to do when a racist joke is made around you..... myself, I would probably just be quiet, and walk away. You deserve more from your peers. Its hard in small towns, the residents typically have been there for generations and dont know any better as their family has raised them to be jerks. They will get it, the first time they go to the city and are in the opposite position.

    Doesn't mean we go around committing hate crimes.

    Ethnic jokes might be uncouth,

    But you laugh because they're based on truth.

    Don't take them as personal attacks.

    Everyone enjoys them, so relax.

    If we would just all admit
