Is it normal to be afraid to not get involved in a relationship?

I just recently left a relationship I had with a woman who I learned never really cared about me to begin with. Instead I was just being used and abused. I never had much luck with women but this last relationship has got me scared to try again. I feel I'm better off if I stick to masturbating. Is this normal?

    That happened to me, but I'm a girl and it was with a guy.

    Don't give up, and don't open up too fast. I now found a man who loves me for me and not sex, and he still loves me even though I still have bad problems with trust.
