Is it normal to be afraid to check your mail?

After my husband lost his job a few years ago things haven't been the same for our family. We barely scrape by and it seems like someone is ALWAYS screaming at us for money. In the past 4 or 5 months going to the mailbox has made me nearly physically ill. My hand shakes when I go to put the key in. I feel like I want to vomit. I just don't want to know what's there because it almost NEVER good news, only bills I can't pay. this weekend it was so full the mail lady brought it to the door. I feel bad and I feel like a crazy person. I nearly go into panic mode as soon as I have to go out there.
What you think?

This is the governments why of telling us they own you! Google "new world order" the banks control the world, they loan money out they know u can't pay back... Get of that way of thinking... Grow your own food...live off the grid... Simplify your life

Yes, this is normal! I am too. I haven't even opened my mail from last week. I'm afraid to answer the phone because bill collectors call my house from morning to evening, even on weekends. Having no money is enough to cause this kind of anxiety. Maybe you should ask your husband to check the mail once in a while and give you a day without having to feel this way?

I was the same way when I was out of work. It was awful. Sometimes the mailman would take my mail back and leave a slip. If I didn't pick it up at the post office within two weeks it would all be returned to the senders. This caused all kinds of hassles. I'm so sorry for what's happening. Hang in there,

Just seeing your title, i knew you were scared of something that you're always expecting. It's totally normal. Since you've put it in your head before you go to the mailbox that bills are waiting for you, you'll be scared.
I think that if you have something positive to look forward to, you wouldn't be scared anymore. Try asking family members to send you a nice letter from time to time to help you look forward to something else other than the bills.

That's a great idea. I will ask my Mom to write to me.

      Thanks!

I leave my mail in the box for days sometimes unless I'm expecting a check cause even though I'm up to date on most of my affairs I still HATE and REGRET opening the mailbox and getting bills and junk mail

I do the same, actually I dont check the mail ever, I just pay the utilities and bills I have to online and leave all that junk mail to be recycled by someone else, there is WAY too much paper being wasted by way of promotional mailers and catalogs and all that I actually feel disgusted anytime I do check the mail because of the blatant waste of our natural resources (paper), but to them its a numbers game that will cover their costs, they don't care about the waste.

I would say online bill pay what you can, and forget the mailbox.

    I wish you good luck
