Is it normal to be afraid of the old

I was driving on the freeway in traffic when I looked over and saw an elderly man driving w his dog in his lap and oxygen mask on. I immediatly panicked and got the grim thought of him dying while driving and consequently killing/hurting me in the process. I understand and would never want to put an age limit that people would have to stop driving , but I get mini panick attacks now when I'm next to an old person driving. Am I alone in this fear?

  • There does come a time for elderly people to stop driving, & its hard to lose the independence. But lets not over-generalize except perhaps to say that the demographic that is known to be most scary & dangerous risk wise are young men (hence their high insurance rates).

I think there SHOULD be a law for people to stop driving at a certain age

Not really abnormal but you seem to be worried a bit too much. There's plenty and llenty of other driving dangers besides old people on the road.
