Tampons might hurt when you first try them, but they don't smell, you can swim while wearing one, and you don't have to walk around itching and feeling like your pants are wet all the time, like when you're wearing a pad. And you can use them as a virgin. Start with the small size, and wear the lowest absorbency you can. Change them often to prevent Toxic Shock Syndrome.
I'm the same waaay. I've always used pads.. I'm scared too! I've tried to shove one up in there a few times.. But it always ends up making me feel uncomfortable and I back off :/
I was always afraid to use them too
I actually just started to for my last few cycles and they are sooo much better than pads
I googled how to put it in for like 20 minutes because I was so scared I was going to do it wrong the first time lol
You don't even feel them in
Just try them if you're ever comfortable enough and I'm sure you'll like them
I used to be afraid too, but then I tried one. It hurt a little at first but after a while you don't feel anything. I wish I would've put them in sooner, they're amazing. I was always afraid of getting TSS but I think they over exaggerate it because I 've had a tampon in for about 10 hours and nothing happened but I wouldn't recommend that because even though its rare it could still happen. I hated wearing pads, felt like I was wearing a diaper.
I had a friend who's string snapped. This probably adds to your fear and I apologise for that but seriously people should only use them when they know they're doing it right for simply the reason of it not getting stuck up there... aint pretty >.<
My bestfriend is the same way, she was absolutely afraid of them. She thought they would hurt, fall out or even the string would just be out there. We were on the swim team together and no matter what, she would not use tampons when she was on her period.
I used to be scared to use them but after I tried and got the right kind that suited me best, I love them now. No mess and no disgusting feeling. Plus they r way more portable
Omg I know how u feel!! When I fist got my period I vowed that I would never use tampons, but as time grew I got more and more intrigued and one day when i was on my day I decided that I would use one and it was the best thing I ever did!!!! Yes it did hurt a little to put it in and definitely take it out, but it is worth it!!! Just give it a try and if u don't like it, u don't need to use it, but if u do it's good!!!
They scared me until I became a teenager.
When you're young, it's normal for them to creep you out.
I agree with Eva! And tampons are waaaay better to use when you go swimming!
i didn't start using tampons until after i had sex because i was scared that it would hurt too much before sex... i'd say you're completely normal and that one day you'll understand that there is nothing to be afraid of. :)
I used to be the same way lol. But trust me, it beats dealing with the mess and possible leakage that you get with a pad. :-)
Nothing to be afraid of, deary. I understand why u might be, but they really aren't bad. U don't even know they are there. U just have to be careful. Like don't use a super if u have a light flow. And don't leave it in all day. If u want to try them, start with light or regular and see how it goes. If its mostly dry when u take it out then you need less absorbancy. If u have to change it way too often then u need more absorbancy. Panty liners for backup protection. What if u want to go swimming? U can't wear a pad for that. Wow. I didn't think I'd have so much to say about coochie cotton :)
i am too cuz if you leave them in too long you can get toxic shock and that never goes away! plus thatd feel weird all day i personally think. only one thing goes up me;) hahah anywy, its normal :)
tampons have chemicals and ofcourse, bleach in them. the chemicals cause women to actually bleed more! that way, you buy more tampons. they are not good for your body. pads are also bleached but at least they are on the outside of your body. if you have to use tampons please use some from an organic store or health food store so at least they are semi-better for you. it is sad that so many women are misinvormed about this, it has been a big cover up and tampon companys are not honest with you! dont buy in.
