Is it normal to be afraid of something thats not there?

i know thats sort of a complicated question for anyone to answer, so ill explain it before people think i'm Skitso( i know i spelt that wrong) But anyways, I run down the stairs extremely fast for fear that something will push me down the stairs. This has been a reaccuring thing for awhile now. Doesnt matter where i live, how spooky or how cozy, I sometimes walk sideways down the stairs, and ive even fallen because ive tried to run down or up them too fast. When i am sleeping at night, i cannot face any certain side (left or right) Because i think that someone is going to come up behind me and kill me. Does this happen to a nyone else?

You must have been pushed to your death down the stairs in a past life.

  • Just last night I was laying on my side facing the wall when I had the unnerving thought that something was literally two inches away from me, watching me.

I turned and saw nothing. But I could still feel it's presence. You're normal.

When I was 16 one of cousins passed away in his home. My aunt and uncle have a huge house but when you head downstairs and get to the foot of the stairwell you come to 3 door frames...1 for the pool room and 2 to either side I the garage....needless to say after he passed I never went back down there cos I was petrified and the lighting is awful... But if I ever was sent down to get somethig I would run a fast as I could back up.... Still scares the bejesus out if me!

I feel the same exact way on stairs. I just had a freakout going up stairs and my entire family is home and all the lights are on. It's strange but I've looked around online and apparently it is pretty normal.

No. You just have phobias. If they interfere with your daily life, you go see a therapist.

I'd rather not go tell a therapist and be sent to a psych ward. Thanks for the helpful advice.
