Is it normal to be afraid of sex?

Ok, so I've only slept with one guy, until he dumped me and used me only to feel good. And I thought he had a pretty big girth, so sex kinda hurt.

This new guy that I'm dating, he has a bigger girth than my ex by a long shot. And I know that I should get lube and whatnot, but we're both broke and are forced to live with our parents until we can afford to move out (college students) and our parents do not know that we mutually agreed that sex with us is gonna happen. (Not that it's any of their business).

So I'm kinda scared, and have no idea what to do.

I guess I should also mention that he's a virgin, but he doesn't want sex for me to hurt.
