Is it normal to be afraid of eating at places that serve shellfish...

I have a food allergy to shellfish (shrimp, crab, lobster). I hate eating at places that serve shrimp, thinking that someone might cross contaminate the food and My throat will start claping again. Is this normal among people with food allergy? Or am I crazy?

No I would worry also maybe if your eating at a place like that you may want to tell them about it and to be careful.

This is a yes and no kind of question. If it's a good and reputable place I wouldn't worry too much as long as you alert the staff to your allergy. Most good places keep separate prep areas for different foods.
