Is it normal to be afraid of cars?

I'm scared of cars.

I was hit by a car over a year ago, but I was still scared of cars before then.

They seem like giant beasts of metal to me. So heavy and powerful, no mercy on the ground it rolls on.

My mom says I should stop being scared of them by now, and I'm going to need to drive soon. (I'm going to be of driving age soon)

How do I explain to her that this is not something I can fix on my own, as I've always been scared of cars?

Tell her that it's a very real phobia, like a phobia of anything else. If she's scared of something like spiders, then ask her is she would gladly buy a tarantula and handle it. No? Well then, how does she expect you to simply "get over" your fear of cars? Ask to see a psychologist since this is affecting your life.

Go see a psychologist, and explain to her this is a very serious phobia. Do you live in a city? If so, driving is not absolutely necessary.

    Best of luck.

cars are only as dangerous as the people driving them. you should be afraid of people instead
