Is it normal to be addicted to playing guitar?

Alright well I've been playing for 7 years and just this past year I've started playing guitar everyday for about 1-2+ hours. It's getting out of hand because time goes by fast when I am playing. I play to my iPod and before I know it, I've played through 3 albums. The fingers on my left hand have indents from the guitar strings and their is a noticeable different between the vains on my left arm and my right arm.

I can't stop this. When I play, I jump and sing/harmonize as if I was performing the song live. Another problem is that I have too much energy when I am playing, so this means I jump as much on the 1st song as the 60th song.

Is this normal? I also can't stop making my own songs and recording them. I just can't help it becuase my dad has all of this equipment and I just get such a rush when I play. So is it normal to be addicted to guitar like this? Or any other thing? My dad told me once when I was just a boy that I could probably be famous and I believed him and the feeling just stuck to me.

Edit: I'm not one of those guitar guys who has to make it obvious to the entire world that I play electric guitar. I play in my spare time and many people don't know that I play.

And this has also influenced my taste in music. I hate slow songs and I hate songs with no guitar or real instruments. Just lately, when I play a part of a song that has no guitar part, I play the melody of the vocals on my guitar.

I think it is. I play for at least a couple of hours a day, often more on weekends. It has also changed the way that I listen to music and watch it played live. It is just a way of being actively involved in the way you experience music whilst developing a useful skill.

Have you tried uploading videos to YouTube? If you are good, that is something I'd consider doing, if only just for the fun of it.

Dave Grohl, former drummer for Nirvana and current guitarist for (forgot the name now), plays guitar every single day until his fingers literally bleeds.

I'm an avid guitar player and I am pretty decent at it. Also record my own songs - I play 3 to 6 hours every night. My fingertips constantly feel raw.

Dude are you in a band?

you should start one if you're not! Get that stuff out there!

Then you can get on stage and shred under the lights infront of people. That is a great feeling!
