Is it normal to be accidently arrogant around friends?

I managed to get into Harvard University, and I am British. So I was really happy. I told everyone and they were all congratulating me. Then I when went home after first term of freshman's, I told people who didn't know about it. I started being all arrogant and vain because I managed to get into a Good Uni. I know I am starting to become a snob about it, and I don't what to do? I don't want to lose friends at home because I was just going through a phase? Has anyone else been In a situation like this? If they have tell me what to do or if it ends?

Do not talk of it unless questioned. Once questioned, do not detail it but simply state "Harvard."

It's a phase and in my experience most college students go through this! I attend a technology institute but there is a nearby university (not a particularly good one but regarded as better than what I'm in) and every first year seems to be so arrogant. They all seem to calm down by second year anyway.

Congrats on Harvard! It is just a phase. Do what chole said. Don't be the one to bring it up. If it gets to the point when someone is annoyed enough to call you out just apologize and say you didn't mean to be arrogant.
