Hello! I'm a 18 year old senior in highschool and im still a virgin. I feel like im the only one (excluding a handful of others) and i wanted to ask is it abnormal to be a virgin still?? Even my 15 year old sister gives oral! Am i weird or a total square for being abstinent?? It seems like having moral standards is a bad thing!
Its sad. It seems that women are looked down upon for not being a virgin, but men are looked down on FOR being a virgin.
Why is sex such a big deal?
I dunno, it seems that a lot of people (in the us, i know its different from culture to culture)seem to put a big importance on waiting till youre married, (or not at all), and look down upon anyone who enjoys sex. yeah, its not as bad as it used to be, but the victorian views still shape our attitudes about sex.
It doesnt matter to me either way,as long as you dont hurt others doing so, and if you have sex, do so when you are ready and willing. a good partner should be able to have respect for you whether you are abstinent or not.
I see a lot of people who regret losingn their virginity so early. You are fine. Wait until you find the right girl to lose it.

There is almost nothing more overrated in life then losing your virginity, and disregard all those other idiots in HS, most are outright lying and the ones that arent lying most likely did it to "be cool" or are talking about having had sex to reassure themselves that they did the "right" or "cool" thing.
There is nothing that is a bigger turn off to a guy then finding out the girl they find themselves attracted to has slutted her way around town before they came along. Even if I had strong feelings for the girl I would drop her like a hot potato if I found this out.
I'm 19 and I plan on dying a virgin... which for me, it won't be hard to do. :3
God. It's nice to know virgins are still out there. It is a good thing. But not normal unfortunately.

It's sad that sometimes you have to lie to fit in. But you are doing the right thing by being a virgin. Continue that until you are married. You and your wife will be happy about it.
Its completely normal. Sorry but your sister sounds like who I'd watch on 16&Pregnant. Morals are fine and you can have sex when you are in love or are ready

I didn't make some 'moral' choice to refrain from sex, in fact I see nothing wrong with sex.
If I had had a willing girlfriend at the age of 16 then I would have probably lost it then. The fact is I have never found a girl that can stand my god awful presence long enough for us to date or have sex.
If you are choosing to be abstinent then that is of course your decision and (judging from my friends) it's totally normal to want to wait.
I study morality in an academic setting via that which is observable and testable; you haven't a clue what morality is. Furthermore, you haven't a clue that promiscuity is immoral. FACT is that polygamy and polygyny are each older concepts than monogamy; monogamy is a much younger concept that is already experiencing signs of a paradigm deviation.

Oh you are definitely normal for being an abstinent at your age! I didn't lose my virginity until I was 21. Is everyone having sex? I doubt it. There are probably just as much virgins as they are of non-virgins. Don't let people tell you whats cool and whats not. I have a lot of respect for people who will wait until they met the right person or marriage to have sex. Trust me, you are doing a good thing for yourself.
Having moral standards is not a bad thing. You'll be happy later that you were abstinent when you were 18. Believe me, what you are doing is right. You are lucky that you have the self-control, something that your classmates don't have.
You know...it may not be normal, but it should be. People are starting to have sex at younger and younger ages and all it's really doing is breeding a generation of ho-bags and fuckheads. No shame is abstinence, it'll happen when it happens.

Hope your sister had been inocculated against HPV - throat amd mouth cancers from oral sex are massively increasing. I think it's either 1:7 or 1:14 chance of being with someone infected!

Abnormal yes, considering most teens lose their virginity around 16. Is that a bad thing? Heck no, unless you're a bitch prude. I don't suggest waiting until after marriage though, because sex opens up the other half of the person. You really can't fully know a man until after you've had sex with them.
