Is it normal to be able to hear electric devices?
Hard to explain.
The other day, I was watching a movie with my friend, and he was smoking a blu e-cig. I noticed during the movie that there was a mosquito frequency every now and again that'd only last a few seconds. It happened again while I was talking to my friend and I noticed it coincided with him taking a drag, so I assumed it was just the battery turning on or something.
I later thought about all of the weird things I've heard over the years.
I heard my computer's power supply change frequencies a few months before the PSU died. When I was telling my friend and my dad about the sound, neither of them understood what I was talking about.
When the majority of a screen is one color, and there's something moving, say a black wall behind a person who is standing still, I can "hear" the pixels as the person moves about the frame. This happens with all kinds of things on TVs and monitors.
Sometimes, when I can't sleep at night, often because of anxiety or something similar, I have to unplug everything in my room and the room next to mine so I don't hear any more mosquito frequencies...
I can tell if a device is on or off just by being near it and hearing it. Gameboy, Consoles, Computers, Chargers... I don't know.
I don't only hear high pitched noises, though... When I get really high on marijuana, which is once a week or so, my hearing can sometimes become very, very, very sensitive.
The sound of another person's voice makes me feel like my ears are going to explode, my footsteps walking home become loud stomps, and when the wind blows I can hear thousands of leaves rattling. Every single one. A train ten miles away makes my head hurt (when I get inside, I can't hear it anymore, thank god.) While laying still in my bed during this phase, I can hear the blood in my head, and my heartbeat. I can hear a faucet dripping in the bathroom down the hall. I can hear my neighbor walking outside, opening his car door, and saying "I love you" to his wife.
If I relax too much, I can hear my breath inside of my lungs, and I can hear the effect smoking occasionally has had on them. The air tugs on something. It's unnerving.
I can't really listen to music, or do anything that makes too much noise... Watching a movie on mute makes me hear the pixels too much. I usually put my phone on the table across the room with music playing on the lowest setting to get my mind focused on just one sound source to fall asleep.
I know all of that isn't normal, but is the hearing the mosquito frequencies normal?
