Is it normal to be able to control what happens in your dream?

It started a few years ago.
You know the movie scene in Aladdin after the song A Whole New World? With the fireworks?
Well if I was having a bad dream, I pictured that place, forced my mind to do two roly polys in the air, and then I woke up.
Happened a few times, slowly moved on to being able to do anything to wake me up. Sometimes I can conciously feel the fact that I can't wake up at all but my mind is really awake.

I start controlling what happens, not perfectly obviously. But I have nightmares quite frequently and I've picked up a habit of making myself more concious and being half awake.
Dunno if that's normal?

Oh the great pleasures if lucidity! It's normal! (although not everyone can do it) It's brilliant! I do it all the time! We are lucky to have this talent so take advantage of it! People would kill for this ability. You can do anything you want, and make it real for the night! You can return to the dream where you left off! You can do the impossible in your mind. It's better than just your regular imagination, as this requires deeper thought and I don't even know what else to say! that fact that I came across this is just so exiting!

    i. over. did. it. i. know.

I have a friend who can do this. I think this makes you very lucky. I had a dream once that I figured out was a dream, and did whatever I wanted. It was just that once, but it was awesome. I wish it would happen again.

Im so jelous. The only place im truly happy is in my dreams and for some time now ive been training my mind, learning much about r.e.m. sleep and meditation to gain control in dreams. so far ive only gotten to control the dream scenarios i have that night. Mid rem control is still beond me. I WILL ACHIVE IT! I want to learn more in my sleep. Use these gifts well, dreams are sanorios used to teach us how to act in certain situations we belive to get in. Controle over that gives you a giant advantage over the learning caperbilitys of others. Instead of learning about things that might not happen you could learn about something you plan on doing better than others and keep learning until you are. you could learn languages over night! subconsual awearness in rem would be extreamly useful with over night audio books. like physics? you can learn it in your sleep. Man im jelous.

Go you geniuses! Go invent, create and solve. Im not gonna put normal, because it isnt. But it sure is brilliant.

I almost forgot like an idiot. Dont do this every night! have a rest once a week. We also use rem sleep to rest certain parts of the brain called rem atonia. over ten days witout this i think and you will die. If you have controle over your dreams im sure you dont know what else is still active. in the long run over use of this could lead to a short life. Play it safe and take a night or two off every week. you should be ok.

my therapist told me (haha chill, i know that sounds bad, but i'm bipolar. my parents make me go), but anyways, my therapist told me that's actually a sign of brilliance. :)

i didn't tell her tho. she asked me if i could control my dreams. my reply was "yes, can't everybody?". THEN she told me.

so it's a good thing. way to go! :)

It's Normal To Control What Happens In Your Dreams. You Do Usually Have To Have Dreams Often For You To Get Use To Them.

I Use To Have Dreams Every Night Which I Usually Had Control Of But I Just Started To Lose Control After Time.

Now I'm Lucky To Have Dreams Twice A Week. But That's Probably Because I Stay Up All Night Watching Foxtel. LOL.

How Old Are You??? I'm 14 Turning 15. I'm Curious About Your Age Because I Only Know Like One Person Who Can Do The Same Thing.
