It's normal but I'm afraid that it's a pet peeve of mine. I find bad spelling and grammar so annoying and I can't do anything to quell the frustration. When I used to be in a job that involved hiring, I used to throw out people's application letters and resumes if they had spelling errors in them. Apparently, it's very common for people in HR to do that, so always get a proofreader.
Yeah. My husband is terrible at spelling but intelligent overall. Bad spelling doesn't bother me unless I really can't understand what you're saying. If your spelling is that bad then you really must seek help.
My jimmies don't get too rustled by it unless it's either...
A. Very obvious
B. Very subtle (I will defiantly write this paper/I should probably go than)
I think everyone has those words they just can't spell.
I seem to falter a lot on the ie ei words like niel freind etc
I often mix up my vowels too. To use the example of the word "balloon"; I find it very hard to tell if it should be spelled "balloon", "bolloon" or "bulloon" from the sound of the word (I have learned how to spell it properly because it's a common word, but there as still some less common words I get wrong a large percentage of the time).
My spelling would be terrible if I hadn't downloaded an add-on to Firefox which spell-checks for me. You can see it in some of my very early comments (EDIT: actually, I'm not sure if you can. That may have been on a different site where I had that problem) how bad of a speller I can be if I don't have a spell-check. A lot of words I have to actively sit down and learn before I'm able to spell them. It doesn't take too long to learn them now because I'm so in the habit of learning words.
