Don't listen to Ollie dude. He's tried to spread negative thoughts on several other posts. To be 20 and never held a job is totally normal. Some people's parents won't let them get one in high school and then they go to college and their class/lab schedule prevents them from getting one. I changed my major several times and still didn't get it "right;" I just went too far in my final choice before I figured that out and any degree is better than no degree at all.

I would suggest going to the Career Center at your school. They should have both student and staff counselors that can work with you and help you figure things out. And even if you go and still don't feel that you know what your dream job is, that's okay man. Some people were in their 40's before they figured out what career path they loved. Life is a constant path of learning about yourself and it will come with time.

One other thing you could do would be to contact several non-profit places in your city and see if they need volunteers. You could potentially find your hidden passion just by helping people and trying something new.

  • I was the same. I went to college and studied IT to find I hate working in an office and sitting all day. Get a part time job and find out what you enjoy doing.

Remember, college and uni aren't worth thier weight in sh&? for some careers. Pratical experience is gold!

    it's normal.

i suggest you get a part time job on anything: retail, shops, restaurant etc.

A friend of mine is just like you. Studying college, now in University. And has no complete job! He's 21.

Just try and find any job man.
    I didn't get a job till I was 20, and it's a degrading job which was a cleaner.
Now I have a much better job working in a clothing industry (retail).

Any job is better than nothing.

Go to the library, scan the shelves, be rebellios and pick out anything that catches your interest, even if the librarians make fun of you.

Once you learn to open your mind and explore, it'll come natural. Ollio is right in the sense that you've just got to become aware of your own interests, and use your imagination.

  • Sorry, I don't know how anyone can help you if you have no imagination and no awareness of your own interests, likes or dislikes. Where have you been for 20 years?
