Is it normal to be 19 with an 11:30 curfew?

So when i turned 18 my mom gave me a curfew of 11:30, and it stuck. I have a sister who is a couple of years older than me who can stay out all night if she likes as long as my mother knows where she is. I also have a male cousin who lives with us and is the exact same age as me, but because he is a boy, he can stay out however long he wants, and no one has to know where he is at all. When ever they go out somewhere i have to stay behind because no one really wants to be home that early, and its my curfew not theirs. So im stuck in the house every weekend except when someone wants to be nice and let me tag along for a while but my mom wont budge at all on the time so they have to drop me off early. Is this really appropriate? Is it normal?

If that's the case then I feel that your curfew is bullshit. What the hell? Even just the fact that your 19 is enough reason to stay out til whenever you want. Unless your a really bad seed and can't be trusted.

That is NOT normal. I'm 18 and never had a curfew maybe because i really didn't go out. I came home before at 12am and my mom asked me why i was home so early. I had this look on my face O_o because i thought that was weird saying 12am was too early. But i think you should be able to do what you want since you are legally an adult but if you're still living with your parents then you're fucked! Gotta follow their rules. :)

it depends on what you did to get an 11:30 curfew.

My parents are the same way, it's because we're the "baby" of the family. Once you hit 20, the cerfew should drop.

hey im 19 and my curfew is 3.00. thats decent but do stick to that?, NO!!! i drink and party all night and dont come home till 6.00. you neeed to live life while your young and free!! sneek in home or say you stayed round a mates house. just dont make breaking your curfew a habbit< your parents at the end of the day are trying to look after you :) LIVE A LITTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! try something new and show your parents that you need toi be treated the same as everyone else. BTW, worked for me1 :)

Did you do something to cause them to distrust your "responsibility". If you don't like it move out and go to college. Staying won't make your "curfew" change.

You're not dead in a ditch yet, so the curfew will probably stick.

Their home, Their rules. They don't have to be rational. If you don't like it your an adult and have the right to stay elsewhere. At the same time if you violate the rules they have the right to throw your shit on the porch and kick you out. Make your choice.

LOL at 13 I used to go out on weekends until 4am. Stay up on xbox or causing trouble until 3am on a school day.

sit them down and explain, you are 19, a legal adult. at the very least when you're out with your sister or cousin you should be able to stay with them till they come home. and that the male cousin having a different curfew to you is sexist.

explain that you know the dangers of staying out late, and that you have some preventative measures for just in case. ($2 in your sock for the pay phone in case you're robbed. 000/911 saved in your phone for police emergencies and your parents numbers on speed-dial. oh and "get home' money stashed where you can't accidentally spend it.)

You can not save 911 in your phone. You can not save emergency numbers in your phone I think possibly for the reason you might bump and accidentally call it. So when you try to add it to speed dial it will not work. I know because I tried adding emergency numbers in my cell phone and it said no.

I've never tried so I didn't know that was a thing. I do know you CAN save it in your phone, (or at least the 000 number we use in Australia) but I've never attempted to put in on speed dial

Well I tried saving emergency contact in my contacts and it would not let me. I assumed that is why.

Might be a regional thing, or a phone brand thing... who knows

I do not see why anyone would want to be out that late. Even if I go to a party I still get home by ten. My sibling is two years younger and will disappear till one in the morning and my mother is fine with that. However I don’t really have anywhere to be that late at night so maybe I am just weird. Even in school when I went to parties that went all night I always came home at 10 or 11. I was always ok with it since I was usually tired after and didn’t want to spend all night at the place even when given the opportunity.
