Is it normal to be 32 and feel no desire to settle down?

I'm 32, going on 33, and I feel no desire to get married or have kids. I have so much more that I want to accomplish in life... had a huge career setback in the recession, have tons of student loans from graduate school, and am just getting back on my feet... I am in a relationship and making some positive changes to my lifestyle (more exercise, less partying), but the next stage of life (marriage, property ownership, kids) seems very far off. When will I be ready for these things?

The standards of marriage and kids are so outdated. We have to consider the fact that we are living upwards of almost 80 years old on average now! Back in the day life expectancies were 44, 55, 60, and so on. So people were getting married and having babies at 13, 15, and 18 on average.

You don't have to set with this standard. Once you feel comfortable with the prospect, your body will let you know naturally. But keep in mind for natural child birth there are some restrictions for females (think menopause). But don't let that scare you. Just research your other options and know they are there.

Everyone is ready at different times. There's no right or wrong time for it with these things. I have a cousin that's your age and he's exactly the same. He's always going overseas on adventures and I assume he does want to settle down at some point but just not now.

Marriage and kids ain't for everyone. If you're happy how you are for the moment then that's all that matters.

    You're ready when you're ready.

I say just keep up with the things you're doing. You seem to be on the right track. Once you've accomplished some major goals, then you'll be able to quote ''settle down,'' haha.
