  • It's not common, but not totally weird. If you like them as a friend, then they're your friend.

If they were your ONLY friend or if you wanted them in a sexual way, then that would be abnormal and you should stop going there. The parents probably see you as a mentor/babysitter/friend for their kid.

Why should friendship be limited to a given age? As long as you're not a pedo lol. But it's totally normal. I have a friend who's like 6 or 7 years older than me. Can't remember exactly.

Sure, it sounds like you're an older sibling figure to them, and that's actually kinda nice. I'm thinking about signing up for the Big Sisters programme and mentoring a younger girl. As long as you're not a pedo, I'd say it's fine.

Dont listen to social stereotypes and semantics its fine as long as it stays above the belt.

It doesn't have to be wierd. Who cares, it's like babysitting at the weirdest. Or an older sibling, must be nice for tge parents. Just be a hood influence. Good*

It's normal and cool to be friends with someone regardless of their age, but I think you should try to act your age around their parents... like don't just mooch off them like you're a 5th grader, offer to help them clean up or give your friend rides and stuff

In an ideal world, there is nothing wrong with this.

In the real world, especially the uber-paranoid USA, however... I'm an adult who works with kids and teens and I have to say you are playing with fire. Sooner or later someone is going to accuse you of inappropriate behavior with the kids, regardless of whether you actually did anything or not. And once that accusation is made you are forever "questionable" regardless of your innocence. At 22 you should have friends of your own age. If you continue being friends with these kids you need to make sure 1) you are friends with their parents first and the kids second, and 2) you are never in any situation where you are unable to prove your innocence. So make sure there is another adult present at all times.

Perfectly normal!! When it comes to friendship - and other things - age shouldn't matter.

It's normal. The whole objection to this is a social construct.

I think it's abnormal for you to still act like you're 12. It cries out to me that you have some serious case of Arrested Development somewhere along the line.
