Is it normal to base a comic character off of a real serial killer?

hello, i am making a web comic about 4 people traveling across the country to save the main characters dad from a evil mafia leader, i based my evil mafia leader off of Ted Bundy, i thought it would make it a bit more interesting and make the mafia leader look a bit more evil, he will not be a good guy in the story he will always be the bad guy who will always try to kill the main characters. is it normal to do that?

how can you base an is it normal question around creativity? what are you afraid of? that you have a sadistic creative streak? if your creativity was normal that would be a problem because it would mean that you'd lack originality. Sorry but I'm not sure what you're asking here or why you're asking it?

It's normal. Norman Bates (aka the dude from "Psycho") was based off of real-life serial killer Ed Gein.

  • Not really an IIN question, but then again not all are.

I would say yes, it's normal to base a villain off of real life evil.

I thought it would of been a bit cooler for one of the main somewhat good characters to be based off of a serial killer, I like the idea of there being an "evil within" type thing but in this case not be completely evil, just have a dark past and is moreso an anti-hero amongst heroes. Those types always make the best characters.

They have done this with so many books and movies why would it be anymore bizarre in a comic book?
