I know I'm not ugly but I do not have a boyfriend and it is always nice to hear something nice about yourself. So every once in a while I will text a guy friend and at some point ask if I am attractive and what they like about me...I really hope that's not weird...IIN?
I'd rather get a compliment unexpected than have to ask for them. Of course they're going to say you're attractive regardless just as when my friends ask if they're fat.
It might come across as if you are hinting that you like them, which could lead to some awkward situations. You might also seem attention-seeking, desperate, or even a little slutty as well if you are too obviously fishing for compliments. It wouldn't bother me personally, but I can imagine a lot of guys finding it weird.
This sort of reminds of when a guy gives a girl a compliment and the girl is like no I'm not pretty your just saying that. It annoys the shit out of me. Just take your damn compliment and go. It's the same as in your case because it is both desperate and needy.
Guessing your like slightly fat with a nice you give hand jobs to strangers on regular basis after a few drinks your willing to commit but you argue about how it should be done you masturbate a lot and lie that you do and are statisfied with that but on your way to sleep you feel unwanted and needy YOUR FAT go for a Walk.
This reminds me of all that crap on facebook where girls tell each other 'Oh you're so pretty' - not from the picture I'm looking at, they're not!!
I don't think it's weird and I doubt you're "fugly" like the idiot above me thinks. However, it does seem just a bit attention seeking.
I would say this isn't weird but rather a good way to see how others view you. However, social norms would say otherwise.

Ain't good. Trying to fish for compliments is like as if your trying to gain attention and trying to put the spotlight on yourself. Careful. Try to avoid that. Guys hate it.
