Is it normal to always pretend you are someone else

I live in a fantasy world 24/7. I have many characters but this one I have been "working" on for a long time. She is almost prefect. I pretend I am her. Sometimes I want people to call me her name instead.

    Normal to a point, but be careful you keep track of what's actually real and what's not.

    I can shoot fire from my palms. I can out run the police. If i get shot in the head i just respawn. I am an expert swordsman. I can freeze people in mid air. I am the best racedriver in the world. I uncovered the truth about the willamete zombie outbreak.

    It's what you mere mortals refer to as gaming but i like to call it my alternate reality.

    I feel exactly the same way. Look up 'maladaptive' daydreaming.

  • Just be yourself. Do you know who you really are?

  • I'm pretty sure my fantasy world leaks into the real one in a big way, so it's not pretending as such.

    Haha. I don't do that, but when I was younger and searching for myself, I used to pretend, in subtle ways, that I was different celebrities. I would adopt their traits for awhile and then keep the ones I liked. Now I can relate who I am to other people. (Real ones).

    I do have a fake name though! However, the name (Scarlett) is very adaptive AND attractive. If I want to be classy, I can. A slut? I can. Independent and strong? Sure. Girly and popular? You got it. That's a be what you are and be the best at it name. I love it!

    PS Guys LOVE it, especially Spanish ones (;
