Is it normal to always imagine the worst possible outcome?

Okay I have this problem where if my friend is really sick I always imagine them dying and I get reall scared. Like if I'm going to be in a fight I always imagine myself losing and getting my ass kicked even if I know I can win. If my girlfriend doesn't call back I always worry she may be cheating on me. It is a horrible feeling, it's like I'm about to throw up. Is this normal?

I do this too. I try to set it up so that if worst comes to worst I have a plan of action.

depends on a person's situation, sometimes it's smart to contemplate trouble, and if it doesn't happen, it's good.

I kind of do in a way. If theres a choice that must be made I'll sometimes think of the worst case scenario and if the consequence seems worth it I'll do it.
