Is it normal to always have an odd dream at night?
I've always had strange dreams. They weren't nightmares, they were just flat out strange. A few years ago, I had a dream my mother woke me up at 6 a.m. to go shopping at Walmart- which she hates. In that dream, my best friend was there, we bought a time machine and went to an alternate world where an evil dragon lady was the principle of some magic school. She turned my best friend into a maid, which was funny because he despised cleaning, and she told us we had to play hockey to go home. Well, we played hockey... If smashing singing eggs into garbage cans while wearing roller skates counts as hockey... Anyways... That's just one of the many wierd dreams I've had. A couple nights ago, I dreamt that people could turn into animals and I was a butterfly. Well my wing, which in human form was my hand, got kinda broken and I turned into a snake. As a snake, I chased random people around, hissing and playfully nipping at their feet. Then I managed to turn into a bobcat- and I kept on chasing this albino deer that lives in the field around my house. No matter how much I ran, I never got tired and I loved the thrill of the chase. In real life, I hate running. I'm a lazy slob...
In any case, I'm not really complaining; I love having such strange dreams. They're fun to remember and they are definitely something interesting to talk about. I think I've talked about random dreams I've had with my boyfriend once for nearly three hours. It was a fun conversation to say the least. Getting back to the main topic, is it normal? Most people dont remember their dreams. I remember them with such vivid clarity, you'd think I was talking about a movie I'd watched non-stop for the past week. Another thing- is it normal to have dreams like this ALL the time? For me, it's an every night kinda thing, which leads me to believe its not something I ate (I've heard certain foods trigger wierd dreams) I've also ruled out the option that I ate dinner too late in the evening. There's been nights where I've had dinner at 4:00ish and still had wierd dreams. My family usually eats around 5-6:00, which is reasonable, or so I believe. So what causes it? Is it normal? Is there something wrong with my head that causes the dreams? Any kind of answers will be much appreciated! Thanks for reading all this, too. I know I can write a LOT...
