Is it normal to act like this with a friend?

So, I'm female, he's male... We are best friends.

I love him, he loves me, we ALWAYS Skype. As in, we've never NOT talked on Skype for months.
We fall asleep together every night, but usually one of us disconnects at some point during the night once the other is asleep, ending the conversation.

Last night, he never disconnected, and I never woke up to disconnect. In the morning, I woke up to his face and he said "Morning,(nickname). You look so cute."

I had to go to work, so I didn't stay on to talk for long after waking up because I was already late. He seemed super disappointed and hasn't been online for the rest of the day.

He always tells me how he is feeling and now I don't even know what's going on. He never mentioned he was working today so there is no reason he is not online.

I don't know what I'm feeling.

He probably likes you. Most guys wouldnt do that unless they like you, are a psychopath, or are gay.

That's silly of him to be upset over that. He can't expect you to just skip work for him. Maybe there is a bigger underlying problem.

You sound like you're already in a relationship together. Not just friends.

I think this is more than best friends. Either one of you,or both, likes the other as more than a friend. And/or you are in a asexual romantic relationship because you are both single at the moment but still want somebody to feel very close with. However I do not think there is anything wrong with what you are doing.
