Is it normal to act differently to each parent?

I can talk about many things with my mom, and we can just keep chatting all day. We are very much like good friends.

However, I can never act like that with my dad. Our conversations just annoy me sometimes and I would easily lose my temper on him. I feel very bad about it.

But in my heart, I love both of my parents equally. I just wonder if anyone has had the same experience, that they would prefer one parent more than the other.

Perfectly normal. Are you more similar to one parent than the other? My dad and I are so similar it's scary, so we tend to butt head A LOT. But I'm the same, I love my mum and dad equally.

Yes of course, i love both my parents even though they each have their own good and bad sides. My mom is generally nicer and more sensitive so I can say anything with her, but she can be lazy and depressing, and a bit neurotic. my dad is more judgemental of me, but he is more organized and thoughtful, and I feel more closely related to him.

I don't know anybody that treats both parents the same way or gets along with both parents equally.

    I'd say it's normal.
