Is it normal to act differently around different friends?

I'm not sure if I actually do this, but I at least feel as though I do. I feel like I act like a completely different person depending on who I'm hanging out with.

For example, I have a female friend, and I feel like I act more... calm, perhaps even more mature, around her. I also naturally try to make her laugh without thinking about it, but not for the reasons you might think; I could only ever see her as a friend.

On the other hand, I have a male friend who I've been friends with for most of my life, and we say all kinds of weird shit to each other, and we have different phrases we say joking around, and we talk with weird accents sometimes as a joke, but I never do that to anyone else. If I behaved like that around my previously mentioned friend, or even my family, they'd probably think I'm another person. It's like I have different mannerisms for different people/settings.

I do it online as well. Some friends I'll say "XD" to, but others, I would never say that to, and instead choose "lmao" or "lol". For example, one friend, I've never said "lol" or "lmao" to him in my life, but another friend, I would never say "XD" to. I also only use correct punctuation to certain people.

Sometimes it causes clashes, for example, in a group conversation. If I said "XD", one friend might see it as normal, but another might be like "that's weird, he never says that usually".

Maybe I'm just over-thinking it. Who knows.
