Is it normal to absolutely hate t.v?

Well before I start, let me just say that I think society has so many ways to force everyone to think the same, or have the same feelings about things and I detest it.

Moving on, let me explain why I loath t.v so much. I think it is the stupidest, stupidest, stupidest thing ever. I HATE when I hear people talking about their "shows" and that they can't do anything from 5-9 because fucking family guy is on or something. Seriously? You are planning YOUR time around a non-existent storyline of images. I think one of the main reasons I hate it so much is because at my best friend's house, their t.v is literally on 24/7. No one will be watching it, but it will still be on. T.V is simply an input kind of thing, all your doing is inputting information, and it's usually extremely useless and stupid information. I guess people could say the same thing about books but at least you're learning something, broadening your vocabulary at the very least. Anything is better than t.v.

Sorry for going on a rant, and I appreciate it if you read the whole thing.

This is totally normal. TV is the biggest waste of time ever invented. If I want to watch Family Guy, I can do so onllne at a time that is convenient for me.

During the last 5 years, I've watched a maximum of 12 hours of TV.

Oh, and the people who are offended by this are dumbasses who feel threatened by an alternative and superior lifestyle.

    The rant is right!

It's normal, and appropriate, but sadly not common enough to despise the fucking TV. Arggh! I don't resent the people whose lives revolve around it: I resent this culture for misleading and using them the way they do. People are being subtly, deliberately, and with specific motivation, cut off from real social relations, and being fed a surrogate "friendship" with their "favorite characters."

I know people who are personally offended by fictional characters' fictional actions on sitcoms and soap operas... I was once told, by a sweet old woman, all about some really mean lady, from the soap opera Eastenders... like she KNEW the woman, or something! She told me all about how she'd cheated on her ex-husband or something, and was going to do it with her new one--"That's a piss-poor way to act!" she shouted, totally forgetting the difference between fantasy and reality. THAT'S fucked up!

What do you know? A rant of my own!

  • I don't watch tv to the extent of soaps, comedy, action, and all that other crap. I do read instead and I have to agree it is doing more good then the pecto cube can do. The only thing I do watch has to do with soccer and that's on a saturday and Sunday morning so I change nothing. Side not I fucking hate family guy south park ect. It's bloody pointless.

I hate TV with all my guts and I hate my ex even more then tv because when our daughter is at his place he makes her watch all the crap instead of doing homework or practicing piano, which she is very good at

Your blog was entirely long to read. My responses are often long as well. In short, I think it's graat to go without television. Just dont spend all that extra time writing novels on these web pages. Lol. Only a tease.

I don't mind t.v. But I don't think you should obsess over shows or rot your brain in front of one all day! This is one of the reasons why 25% of our younger generations are over weight and are threatening our nations future in millitary numbers.Don't hate t.v, if you don't like it, don't have one.

If you don't like TV then uhhhh, don't watch it?

It's just a form of simple and easy entertainment. I have a few shows I like to watch but I don't plan life around them.

I don't think it's OK to be obsessed with TV but people can watch whatever they want.
