Is it normal to “stalk” someone on social media?

I just went on a first date with a guy, and we really hit it off. We have each other’s number and snap, but my friend kept asking for a pic of him and I didn’t have one, so I took to finding his Facebook by typing his first name and entering the city he grew up in (all of which he told me) and found his profile. I found his instagram with his last name. TLDR; I went through a hella extensive processes to find his stuff, and I feel really weird having done so. Obviously I have no intentions to use this information even remotely maliciously, but I just don’t exactly feel right having done so. Keep in mind this was all public information, I just want to know I’m not alone in doing this kind of stuff.

If you aren't obsessively following their every move you aren't really stalking them. You looked some stuff up, if that's all you did and you don't continue to do it constantly then I don't see an issue.

  • Yea have to agree with kid. If ya upload all ya shit on someones server, then expect anyone too look at it.

I know you mean more for you to stalk him on social media, and no it's not weird an its normal. Its why everyone puts there shit on these sites, so they can be found and seen and they can show off.

If you start sitting out front of his house for hours or go through his bins or start following him unknown, then thats fucking weird.

Well why don’t you just look up their social security number while your at it creep, jk. I mean every minute of the day, it’s not normal but just occasionally I don’t see harm in it.

I put a note on my Facebook 'About' section congratulating stalkers on having made it that far.
And yes, I Facebook stalk. Like. Crazy. I don't get why this is regarded as 'creepy'. I meet loads of people I don't get the chance to find out about by asking them. I get curious about people. I want to get to know them.

Whatever is on Facebook is public information. And not only that, this is one step up from other kinds of info that is 'public', like high school results. Unlike high school results which end up there because of some policy or other that you wish didn't exist, people put their stuff on social media THEMSELVES, DELIBERATELY because they want to let you read it, and if it's only intended for particular people then can they limit the audience.

I like to get to know people and I'm curious about their lives. Facebook stalking is only as creepy as reading someone's autobiography.

I stalk on Facebook like crazy too. It's a good way to forget about my patheticness.
