Is it normal tht i want to name a star after myself?

I want to buy a star and name it after myself. Like couples do in movies, but for ME. I think I deserve one. Is that narsistic?

Yes it is a little narcisstic but if you want to do it then fine.

Ok first discover a new star, then you can name it. Every star we know has a name, even if it's just a number. You're competing with NASA

I will name the asteroid that will destroy the Earth after me.

  • This probably sounds awfully sceptical, but I always thought those star-naming things sounded like a bit of a scam.
...A bit like naming a rock on a beach and paying someone to do it. :\

      • Ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one.

People get so sentimental about naming stars, so I usually keep my opinions about it to myself.

I think you can do this if you pay a certain amount of money. I would not begin to know who to ask though.

I can sell you a star. 15 Euros and you got a star! XD

Did this with my girlfriend. Though we just stared into the night sky, picked a star and named it (that probably has a name), but hey it was romantic XD

It'd be easier to call yourself after a star. Like Sun, for instance.

  • Wanting to do it isn't. Thinking you "deserve" it, well, maybe just a bit.

But I wouldn't name a star after myself, then there'd be two with that name.

I did this for my ex, I bought her a star, well, the right to name her own star, comes with a detailed map on how to find it too, little did I know she was an asshole

Is that narcissistic? I don't see what's wrong with wanting to name it after yourself. If it is narcissism, wouldn't the same go for for families that name their children after themselves? Like seniors and juniors. Personally, I find the latter concept to be a unnecessary and silly.
