Is it normal they spell it betel guese?

From what I found this is a star. There has been a lot of debate about how his name should be spelled. It makes you wonder though why did they pick this name for him?

Why didn't you just look up the reason for the name instead of making this post?

I was not aware of debates over the spelling of the star's name.

In the movie 'Beetlejuice', his real name is spelled Betelgeuse but the movie title is spelled phonetically. This is probably just to make it easier for the brainless public to decipher.

This has nothing to do with the star though. The star was named before the movie came out.

Yeah well based on the impression I got of OP's intellect I felt it necessary to mention that.

  • Betelgeuse was a mis-translation from Arabic to Latin of the name Orion.

It's a giant star in the shoulder in the constellation Orion. Some speculate it may go supernova. It's +-600 light years from earth, and poses no threat, but could be spectacular to see.

The last I checked, stars and other celestial bodies had no gender. It's Betelgeuse in Orion. I did not know that there were debates over the name. How dare they want to call it "Beetlejuice"!
No, I like the name as is.

I know both of the show and the film. However, the Star has had that name for a very long time, long before the franchise ever came into existence.
