Is it normal they added blood test to annual check ups?

Some of you might have noticed in some places they added blood test to annual check ups. I do not understand why when this was never necessary before. Is it normal they want to take bodily fluids when before they just wanted to check heart, ears and so on?

    It's normal, but unnecessary. Annual checkups themselves are unnecessary because people who have checkups and all the recommended screenings, etc. don't live any longer than those who don't.

    It's not necessary now either, but it does act as a great diagnostic tool. If you were seriously ill, wouldn't you want to know as soon as possible, if early detection saved your life?
