Is it normal the puzzle pieces are all the same shape?

I bought a 100 piece puzzle to do with my kids and when we opened it and started putting it together I noticed all of the pieces were the exact same shape (except for some of the edge pieces).

It was very hard to put together because obviously you can put almost every piece together wrong and not know it until later on when things start to look wrong.

I've never seen this before. It was a puzzle for little kids so it wasn't meant to be so hard and confusing!

Is it normal??

    There's just several thousand different pictures you can form. No problem at all.

    it could be seen as easy though. keep referring to the picture on the box

    Ugh, that's awful. I rely almost entirely on the shape of the pieces to put puzzles together, not the picture. I actually find areas of puzzles that are solid colours easiest. That puzzle would break me.
