Is it normal the concept of soul eater defeats itself?

I like the concept of Soul Eater. It is strange but very interesting concept and I love the style in which its drawn. I love the story-line and characters. However the concept seems to defeat the purpose of the goal. I mean if they want a weapon why does it have to be another living person?

Why could they not just make weapons. It has also shown a few instances in which one of the reapers could not fight since she was concerned about hurting her weapon.

While I love the concept it has to be inconvenient from the characters point of view. Also this is nothing bad about the concept and really does not effect how the story presents it self. The creator actually invented a concept which challenges the characters pointlessly but does not ruin the story.

This very concept creates the show and is the premise of the story. Yet at the same time it seems to go against the goal which the characters face. So the show both aims to push forward but hold back the characters at the same time.

Op you are over analyzing it 3
I thought about this too 1
it aims to create emotional bonds 4
This is the perfect formula since if the characters get goal ends 1
other 2
Op you are terrible at making poll options 2
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Maybe it's because human weapons are stronger or you need a weapon with a soul to fight whatever it is that they fight. I've only ever watched one episode, but it was where a guy was fighting with guns. So, for some weapons, maybe it's because you don't have to constantly reload. It could also be because human weapons offer a tactical advantage in which you can speak to somebody and get advice while in battle.

Mainly, though, I think the creator might have just thought it was a cool concept and you're just overanalyzing this.

Perhaps, its because a weapon that's made from a soul is somehow stronger than a weapon sourced by traditional means. If the weapon was made from a soul it seems to me that it would still carry the personality, memories and thoughts from its previous owner. All of which can be very powerful.

    • Oh you are? Is it for the YouTube thing or another reason. Its an Anime. The concept is that we have reapers that catch souls that become evil. The souls are ones that have unfinished business so become poltergeists.

So a similar concept to Bleach. We have these other people that are soul eaters. The soul eaters literally become weapons and team up with a reaper. A reaper using them to destroy these ghosts and the weapons eat the ghost.

To become a weapon you must eat a ghost I think that's how it goes. Anyhow when they become weapons are like any other weapon. They do not have special powers and are at the mercy of the weapon masters holding them.

If the weapon gets damage so does the person becoming the weapon. So this in some cases makes the weapon master flinch since they are unwilling to fight if they know it will hurt their partner. At the end of the fight the weapon turns back to their human form and eats the soul.

They're just pissing me off at the moment. The changes to YouTube especially - Google constantly trying to make me use Google+ and change my channel to some new, crappy looking design, and add personal details like my phone number etc. etc. Also Google search is less appealing now since they always seem to have sponsored results trying to sell me stuff. They've gone downhill and lost their previously untarnished reputation. They've overcomplicated basic services to try and compete with Facebook and Microsoft.

I don't know the details of the anime but could it be that they can't use a normal weapon because it wouldn't be effective against 'evil souls' in the same way?

        • Facebook is actually behind YouTube(originally) and Google. I have no idea who they think they are competing with. Since it was already shown Facebook is actually way behind other popular site.

We found this out during the stock trade and people realize Facebook was not worth the money everyone assumed.

Secondly I am pissed off by the YouTube as well. I have been part of YouTube for over 5 years. I was with it before they switched to Google.

First issue: Transferring us over to Google link successfully kicked many of us out of YouTube for months at a time.

second:They forced change even though it goes against what the people using it want. Thats just bad business.

third: I am also very irritated by the constant updates that are neither optional and come every single month.

fourth: They took away the alert system so we can not reply to our comments or video commenters. So we can not tell if someone writes us back. Making help videos now very unhelpful

Fifth: they deleted the friends list and I use to be on that site so much I had a ton of friends and subscribers to talk to.

Well Google can't compete in terms of social networking at the moment. They have a monopoly on the search engine market, and, with YouTube, the video streaming market, but they obviously want to use their position to grab up Facebook's territory - hence Google+.

I agree with all the issues you mentioned, though. And the recent redesign is terrible! It's really disappointing.

I used to really respect Google for being a big corporation with a heart, who treat their employees well and seem to understand the elegance of simplicity and not just the lure of the dollar. But in the last couple of years they've definitely fallen from grace somewhat. I hope they can get back to what they do best, and actually listen to the consumer instead of pushing all this unwanted crap on our doorsteps.
