Is it normal that when people say "mm mm mmm", it annoys me?

I think it started when I'd noticed my now ex-uncle had become quite angry and down, where he would have a short temper and be unsympathetic (although I was a sensitive younger teen at this time so I guess I took that stuff the wrong way). We were at his lady friend's house, and she had cooked a supposedly delicious meal, as my uncle would go "Mm Mm Mmm" every minute, and I started to find it annoying, probably because I was already annoyed with him - I think this is where it came from; thinking about someone saying it now even makes me feel irritable.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else had the same thing? It's not only that, but also when people chew loudly, make noises when they eat (like slurping sounds) as well. I get irritable at times due to anxiety, so this may be part of it, I don't know. Is this normal?

I have never heard anybody say it, but I never really enjoyed it when I hear it on commercials. If someone did it in real life, I'd probably slap them.

It annoys me when Adam Richman does it. Every single thing that man eats is the most delicious thing on the planet apparently. He doesn't seem a bad guy, though. But enough with mmmm-ing already.

i suspect you're right - that you're annoyed with it mostly because you were already annoyed with him.

sometimes when you're over sensitive (as you said you were) and annoyed with someone... anything they do can frustrate you. even how they breathe.

I agree with what you're saying; it must be because of him, not to sound dramatic. He's not a bad person, but it did affect me as I'd always liked him. I get irritable a lot with people, I think because of my anxiety, and it does make me find their actions irritating, although I try avoiding confronting them because it's rude.

"it must be because of him"

Actually no. That still puts the blame on him completely which is both unfair and incorrect.

I didn't mean it like that; I mean technically he most likely had something to do with it, but it wasn't his fault entirely. I didn't mean to make it sound so rude.

I am giggling my mf ass off right now, that's hilarious. Ever see "What about Bob" with Bill Murray? If not I'd advise against it...

Just watched the trailer. Honestly, it didn't affect me that much, but I found it annoying at first.

It annoys me too, but it depends on whose doing it.

Every time I hear somebody say it, I imagining they're going to say "Mm mm mmm, I just loooove fried chicken!"
