I hate my parents drinking anything, I find it embarrassing and disgusting. 'Casual drinking' is the dumbest thing to me..
As long as they don't do anything dumb like driving drunk, it's okay if they're just having a few. My dad has drove drunk a few times, which is not good at all...but he didn't hurt or kill himself or anyone, thankfully.
I hate it when my parents are drunk and wierd. Hate it. I hate being drunk as well.
slip some pills in their drinks one night, so that they pass out. while they're unconscious, wreck the house, smash a few thing, throw some stuff around. bang your face (just above and to the side of your eye socket) against a heavy door. scratch/cut your arm with a dull screw driver. place the phone off of the hook. when they come to, scream, run and lock yourself in the bathroom. while sobbing tell them how they went ape shit crazy and started beating you and trashing the house just before blacking out. tell them they became different people when they were drinking, not the loving parents who raised you.
Don't worry about it - and whatever you do, don't start counting how many 'units' they drink! (or whatever the standard drink is in your country.)
Growing up, one of my friends told me the same thing. Her parents were really strait-laced people and the idea of them coming home late in a boisterous mood completely freaked her out. I suppose it would have meant a kind of temporary role reversal; her being the sensible one and them being irresponsable and unpredictable.
it really depends on how they behave drunk. but now the question is do you drink young padawan?
