Is it normal that when i take my methylphenidate my muscles twitch?

When I take my methylphenidate (Generic, 2 36mg pills), my muscles seem to twitch. I have sometimes violent spasms of my thumb joint on my hand, and it's just disturbing me. I also get a sensation of someone walking towards me, but then realize it's my heart beating, and I'm more alert to small sounds when taking methylphenidate. Is this normal? If it's any concern, I take St. John's Wort with the methylphenidate in the morning.

Or 'Bing' it, if you're so inclined.
