Is it normal that we are still virgins?

Me and my boyfrined have been dating for 2 years now and we still are virgins, is that normal? Cause most of people I know are not virgins or lost their virginity with their partner for like 2 months of dating, by the way we both are 18.

I think it shows great maturity on you and your boyfriend's part. When you both are ready (which could be tomorrow or next year), you will have sex, and I hope it will be wonderful for both of you.

Both of you should be very proud of yourselves.

That is great for your age especially. It shows how secure you guys are of yourselves and shows you two have patience; unlike most people in this world. Sex should never be first priority in my thoughts when being with someone. :)

I personally want to wait till after marriage and if he isn't that great in bed, there is such a thing as practice. Plus the fact I would have someone special would mean more to me.

Wow! Congratulations! It sounds like a really great relationship if you've gone 2 years with no sex. Hm, that could've be seen as sarcasm but it's not. My relationship was just sex at first but now that he went to Korea for a year, we were able to focus on just talking to each other and it's really strengthened our relationship.

    • Thanks :) I mean, it's not something to be proud nor to be ashamed of, each relashionship is different! We also don't live very close to each other and we're not together all the time so that's probably led us to value what's really important. I'm really happy because our communication is great, we know very well each ohter, we are really close and lookalike and due to that we get to understand each other very well and not argue much. At the beginning, when we began to fall in love (16years old) it was all about the company of the other and the amazing and kind person that he is.. And now we are starting to be more sexually intimate, if the first time goes wrong, when it happens, it should not be a problem because we know we love each other and what we feel is the most important!

It's not particularly normal no, most people who are 18 want to have sex with their partners before 2 years.

People who click yes are clicking yes because they are saying "it's fine if you don't want to!" but that's not answering the question, is it? Most people do, so you not doing it is not normal, but it's perfectly fine (obviously).

Sure, you guys can do what you want. If you don't want to have sex you don't have to. Unless you want a child with both of your genetics.

Yes, it's normal. People are starting to realize that sex isn't everything. Well, atleast on this site I've seen some mature people. In real life still lots of sluts and douchebags. I'm glad you guys aren't like that, and are actually mature.

I would say that this isn't normal. The average age for loosing your virginity in the US is somewhere around 19. And that's probably in large part because in high school, people'll "go out" for a week and then break up. For people who're in relationships, they probably do it a lot sooner.

HOWEVER, it's easy to look around and think "omg, everyone's doing it and has been doing it since they were 13, except me!", and I don't think that's the case either.

I never had sex or dated until I was 21. A good friend of mine dated a girl for about 9 months when he was 17 and they never did. A woman I dated who is now 31 didn't have sex until she was 22, and her ex-husband lost his virginity to her at the age of 23, and he had a girlfriend for *two years* before he met her. So yeah, what you're doing probably isn't *normal* compared to the average population. But as I point out, it's not extremely abnormal or unheard of either.

    • Disagree. People who "go out" for a week and then break up sounds like a relashionship without any feelings and just for the sex, and people who're in real relashionships probably do it later because firstly they get to know very well each other and get to fall in love and build a stable relashionship and then begin their sexual life.

Not always the case though. There's a lot of people who wouldn't sleep with someone unless they'd been dating at least a few months. Why would you go out for a week just to have sex? Why would you go out at all? That's not a relationship, that's sex.
