Is it normal that valium/diazepam makes me normal?

That's right when I take Valium/Diazepam I turn into a normal person. Everyone say's it makes them feel sleepy or spaced out or whatever but I took 40mg before an exam and I totally aced the exam and I chatted with strangers just like a normal person (I have severe social anxiety disorder by the way) anyone else get this on Valium?

Valium is a minor tranquiliser which has a calming effect on the brain, therefore it is often used to treat anxiety, so the fact that you were able to talk to people you would usually be too nervous to is normal. The only slightly odd thing is that you took 40mg in one dose, when it should be taken in 2-10mg doses 2-4 times daily.

2-10 does nothing to me. I have to take at least 20mg to get an effect.

I was only trying to help, if I had wanted to show off I would have gone into greater detail on how valium is in the benzodiazepines family which work by boosting the action of gamma-aminobutyric acid and the effects this has on certain neurotransmitters in the brain, but, as you say, this isn't my psychology class.

You have the disorder or mental illness it treats.

When you have severe anxiety, these drugs can balance you out. When I took Seroquel and Ativan, my concentration was so sharp that I would read an entire book every day (about 250-300 pages) and had no social anxiety (or inhibitions at all; it was actually a little dangerous).

Adderall, on the other hand, made me sleepy at first. Go figure.

I would like to try seroquel but I can't get a doctor to prescribe it.

Valium doesn't make me drowsy at all Any tranquiliser doesn't work 100% for me I guess it's because I've grown immune to them. I take zolpidem when I need to calm down it used to make me drowsy but not anymore I just become a heightened version of myself.

No one is normal. It's nice that it's been working so well for you but have you stopped to consider the side-effects. Most laboratory made medications are extremely dangerous.

    Sounds good.

I first heard of Diazepam when playing on Metal Gear Solid 1; Sniper Wolf was addicted to them and you could take them to steady your aim when sniping. As a kid I always thought it sounded cool. Slightly worrying when you think about it...

Anxiety is a feeling you get when you have too much energy, so taking something that suppresses energy is certainly going to work differently for you than others.
