Is it normal that this really annoys me?
Let me start off by saying that I'm an American rock fanatic from the beautiful city of Akron, OH. I can't get enough of rock music, I could listen to it from the crack o' dawn right up until sunset. Rock music is totally awesome.
Now you would think that as America is the best country in the world by far and it is fricking huge you would expect our music to be the best in the world, but no, sadly not.
That's right, they're all from BRITAIN, that tiny little island full of historical stuff and empty fields. It's so fricking annoying when I get into a new rock/metal band and find out they're British.
For example the newest addition to my rock band taste is a prog metal band called DragonForce (they're a little too heavy but good nonetheless), and I literally crossed my fingers when I looked them up, hoping they would be American. BUT NO! >:(
The only four American rock bands I really love are the Doors, Bread, Dream Theater and Aerosmith. The Beach Boys and Elvis aren't too bad though they're not diverse enough. Not really into Metallica either, although the Metallica self-titled album is good.
I'm just sick of having to put up with knwoing that those British snobs are forever the best at music. They never fail. They get all the glory, always. It should be us, America, we invented rock in the first place, and we are the best...
Is it normal to feel this way? I don't hate British rock music, of course not, I love it to bits, I just hate the fact that all the best music is from Britain and not America. America is so much better than Britain, and it's much bigger with many more big cities, but there's less good rock bands?!
The next time I find out a new rock or metal band I like is British I think I'm gonna tear out my hair.
