Is it normal that this happens with my medication?

I am a teen female who takes anti depressants and when I miss a day I feel like shit (totally normal, yes) but then it takes me like 4 days of taking them again for me to get my mood back up to normal, IIN?

  • Its normal. Youre having withdrawls when you miss a dose.
It is better to not take psych meds at all than to just take them sometimes because when you take them only sometimes you throw your brain juices around more so than you would if you didnt even take them.
However if you need them just take them regularly.
There are things that they make to help remind people to take meds such as a calender box or a med alarm.

Be awarte older antidepressants will kill a ladies sex drive. Your shrink doesn't give a fuck and won't tell you. It's on you to know what you are taking and why and what it can and cannot do. It's a cold waste... the land of better living through chemistry and few can breathe the rarified air of these height for long. You may after pondering the matter decide you are not cut out for post humanoid evolution and choose to descend once again, take up your place amongst the lowly troglodytic nothings represented by the point on a graph labelled 'normal'. You will enjoy vanilla sex. Safe and boring relationships. Comfortin religion. Few highs and still fewer lows. You may feel bloated now and then but there will be products available to help you cope. You will enjoy hours of television and may become addicted to masturbation after a lengthy period of depressive boredom. Troglodytes often commit suicide. Or - let the cards falll where they may baby! Fucking evolve! And the way is chemical. That way, it is true, lies madness. But nothing of value comes without considerable cost. Best wishes to you on your journey.

Yeah some people go fuck nuts without their ssri and what not. Try another. I favor cymbalta / strattera / ritalin cocktail. Very pmneumatic combination. Ask your dealer... sorry, psychiatric speciaist, to write these for you.

It is normal. It depends on what medication you are on. Some take longer to start working, and some last for longer once they start working.
There are literally hundreds of drugs out there. They all affect your brain in a different way, but many of them have similar effects. I was on a drug called Effexor for a year. If I stopped taking it, I would be very depressed the next day. It took a few days for it to work again. Now, I am on Prozac. It takes much longer to work and longer to quit working.
I DO NOT advise you to choose a drug based on how long it works. My doctor helped me find the best medication for me, but it took some time.

I'm not entirely sure. I used to not really notice if I missed a day, it was just starting them up that was the problem.

I guess it would depend on which one you're taking, too.

Try asking the doctor who prescribed it, see if it's a common thing.
