Is it normal that this happens to my soap?

I share a bathroom with my brother.

When I shower I use the bar of soap on the flat sides (top and bottom), so surely it should wear down to look like a flat disk.

But... After a few weeks it looks like a cylindrical rod, sort of like a small pen.

What is my brother doing with the soap to make it look like that?

    Are you two using the same bar??

    That's not healthy at all. You two should be using separate bars of soap.

      We have our own sponges, and there is only one soap tray in the shower.

    Are you not paying attention to the in between stages?
    As soap is used it gets smaller and will start to curl up.
    no charge for the preceding info...

      I try to make it wear down evenly, but he obviously has other plans for it.

    Maybe your brother turns it sideways and uses it that way to make it wear more evenly?

      But it's easier to rub off on the large flat sides, there's no logic to that.

    Wait, so you two use the same soap? That's not hygienic. Buy your own soap and that won't happen.
