Is it normal that this happens in a long distance relationship?

So. I have dated this girl for a year and a half. things are great. Totally in love with each other, never fight, intimacy is going good. Then she goes to college. Her first three weeks go by and she contacts me about once a week MAX. Ignoring any attempt of contact I make. Calls me and says, "Sorry about that, love you but I'm heading out to a party now. Bye". I deal with this on repeat for a year, seeing her about twice a month. She breaks up with me when I have a breakdown in front of her.
How can you change from talking every single day to once a week like that??? There was no reason. The only thing that happened was the distance between us increased from 2 hours, to 4 hours. What.

    Everybody can call someone once a day... If she's acting like that, she's waiting for you to break up, 'cause she's not courageous enough! You deserve better!

    I think it's the college. Before she had more time to be with you, but now she has to due with college. The studying and partying take up allot of time. At least she still calls you, even though it's not as frequent as you would like. Spend time with her on weekends if possible and try not to over think it.

    I think that's normal in long distance relationships, she started to get busy in college, meet new people and rethink the relationship. That's why it doesn't work for me.

    Actually the reason is college. She's out on her own now just having fun and figuring out things for herself. Not the best time for a long distance relationship. Might be time to call it quits.
