Is it normal that this happens at work all the time ?
I work for a government organization and sometimes when working for government you find that some of the employees that you share your day with are of less then savory characterizations, perhaps even people that dont belong in the job to begin with. Recently we had a new supervisor that was hired as a political appointee, which means they had no qualifications to get the job they were just "appointed" because of someone else they knew.
Now working for this supervisor has been trying to say the least. First off there is a strict adherence to no animals in the workplace and this person insists on bringing their pet bonobo monkey into the office on an almost daily basis (long story it was supposedly rescued on safari in africa). As if that isnt bad enough this supervisor uses the monkey as part of a motivational tool when he feels employees arent performing up to "par", which consists of bringing whatever employee isnt doing their job into the office and having the monkey yell and scream at them, while whacking them with a specially made stick. Sometimes if the monkey is riled up enough it will throw shit at the person, which thankfully hasnt happened to me yet.
Now is it normal to use a primate as a motivational tool at work? Is it normal that I harbor fantasties of beating that monkey's ass up?
Should my supervisor be engaging in oral sex with the monkey on their lunch breaks?
