Is it normal that this annoys the hell out of me?

Right I am going to cut the bullshit and get to the point, schools that force on hair length/style annoys the hell out of me, I went to a Primary school and I had long hair, the head teacher pulled me aside and told me "get your hair cut its against the schools rules to have your hair as long as it is", I replied to him with "why is it? If I want my hair like this I'll have it like this, I don't see what harm I'm doing" and he replied with "it looks disgraceful, and get your shoes changed" (I had black shoes with a small white pattern on the back), so I didn't take kindly to what he said, I had my hair cut to the normal length however I decided to add rainbow colours to my hair which he yet again pulled me for and tried to force me to wash out, I was about 12 at the time and I told him "I'm not letting you wash it out, nor am I doing it, I'm having my hair however I want it" and he suspended me, my mum was outraged by what he'd said and done so she complained, it was agreed I can have long hair but can't have my rainbow colours (I'm bisexual and open about this fact so I asked why I'm not allowed it, he simply said its wrong tobe anything but straight, mental christian teacher ahoy ) anyway I'm going off subject, as a young kid rub on transfer tattoos were also popular, he scrubbed a chinese symbol off of my hand with a scrubbing brush and ripped my skin off, I still have that scar and its been about 9 years since this happened... So is any of this shit normal! Also I'm sorry for my bad English, I'm Finnish!

If you were going to a private school, then it sounds about right. Private schools have the right to enforce just about any rule that they want. It's a private school, that's what your parents are paying for and if I were you, I'd be angry at your parents.

It's unusual for a public school in my area, as public schools generally don't have such strict rules.

And if you're in a military school then tough it out, soldier.

And yes, it's normal to be upset by this.

Most schools enforce uniforms to increase a collective sense of identity. However, forcing you to wear your hair a certain way for that end seems cruel and unnecessary. I'm sorry to hear it. :/

I went to a prep school when I was younger and was constantly screamed at for wearing pants, and a dress shirt with a tie. I was really mad and told the teacher that if they didn't like what I was wearing why didn't they just call the frigging' fashion police on me, sadly that somehow caused them to call my parents on me and ,of course they didn't want to cause any trouble so they made me wear the stupid skirt. Ever since then, I had always dressed in the boys uniform just to spite them, I've had a stubborn streak since I could walk and I wasn't going to back down there. The fact that I wasn't going to change eventually became a bit of a power struggle until they didn't care anymore. My act of rebellion seemed to have attracted the attentoin of my cassmates who thought of this as a way to bully me and ,you guessed it, they did. to them the fact that I had an anime-like voice, my hieght, my race (african american), and the fact that my hair is straight (without a perm or anything).

The head was a jerk. He shouldn't have forced his views on sexuality onto you but being bisexual doesn't mean you can die your hair rainbow colours if it's against the rules.

I liked how you said "I'm Finnished!" at the end.

    • Thing is however I should have every right to have my hair long or short, it was more of a rebellion to show I'm not afraid to express myself as a single human rather than looking and acting like everyone else, the head who was there actually got fired recently for being abusive to pupils and being racist >_<
