Is it normal that the lucid dream is actually a proven technique?

I have had Lucid Dreams in my life. Not many but more than some people at least. Now a lucid dream is where you "wake-up" in your dream. Yes, you are still in the dreamworld BUT you are now aware that you are "in" this new form of existence. Your fully capable of motor functioning, sight and feelings. Amazingly, at the same time you are aware that you are dreaming but now you can walk around and generally do what pleases you. Flying, running, super-speed, etc...All are things entirely possible. You can learn to control them, and have them more frequently than not. You sleep a third of your life, why not spice up the nightlife? I've had 3 lucid dreams in my life where I "knew" I was dreaming.

Once when I was a teenager around 15. I was walking this hallway that looked like a Stars Wars battleship and all of a sudden my mind snapped...and I knew I was walking in a dream. I excitedly said to myself "OMGWADEL let's GO!" And almost instantly, my lucidity was lost. Long story short I ended up in a corral sitting with some sheep on a bright sunny day just watching the sun. Figures.

Second Lucid Dream I had, I had learned about them, and was years later, and like maybe 3 weeks ago. I was walking down these stairs, it was actually a scene from my life that had happened. When I got to the bottom, I was talking to this individual and WHAM! I knew I was dreaming. I immediately left the conversation and the dreams story, and walked through a door into a parked car garage. Like the one in the movie Skyline. I then proceeded to experiment with myself. I was trying to remember all the little techniques to do to stay IN the Lucid Dream. So I looked at my hand, made myself fall backwards but keep my balance. Spun around. Even so, I lost my lucidity too quickly, and the dream was over all too soon.

Third Lucid Dream I had, was on Sunday. I went to sleep in my bed. I then looked up, and saw someone walking in an alleyway. I turned my head and looked to the left, and saw people on the sidewalk of the place I lived. WHAM! I knew I was dreaming. So this time I kept my lucidity longer. I was not in my bed anymore obviously, but hilariously..in a car right out front where I live. I was in the backseat left window and in the front was a girl in the front passenger. Who she was I have no idea but I was a little weirded out by her closeness to me. I looked at her and she looked at me but then just looked away. I looked down at my right side and lo and behold I had a little girl snuggling underneath my arm. I was about to freak out because I couldnt see her face...or if she was human..so I repreminded myself to stop acting so silly, the dream won't harm me. I then looked at the people walking on the sidewalk. So funny...a woman with pants as big as the Nutty Professor came bouncing by and I laughed out loud seriously. I then wanted out of the car so I opened the door and got out. THIS TIME I said I'm going to do what I want....and truthfully I jumped up and like the feeling of no gravity shot up in the air just going up and up. Now this is a disappointment but I looked down as I was going up and the little girl under my arm was following me! She had her hands up and was making little noises and she startled me so bad I woke up. I was so mad lol.

I will be having more and more lucid dreams as I continue to grow in my consciousness. I believe that soon I will be able to control with more power, and fluidity the motions and scenarios that are conjured by my subconscious. Why? Why because my subconscious is Me. Any others do this?

That's sounds awesome. I've been wanting to do this as well as Astral Projection. This is definitely something to read up on. Film wise, there's stuff like inception and The anime Paprika.

I've read up on astral projection also. OBE's (Out of Body Experiences) and the like. It's really a exciting reality that some people grow to control them frequently...I guess I am on my way. Have you had any Avant?

Lucid dreams are cool. I've probably had around 20 in my life. Flying when I was young was cool.

  • I have lucid dreams all the time, they seem to have recurring themes too, I can never control the settings but I feel as if I am walking around them etc all the things associated with lucid dreaming. the recurring themes tend to be long journeys (lot's of walking, travelling etc) being with a group of people at some point during the dream, zombies or some sort of threat, desertion (often the places I'm in are eerily empty or sometimes post apocalyptic, familiar places (often th setting are liek a combination of towns & places I regularly visit for example in my dream I'll go around the corner in one town and end up in another but as if they were one big place, another thing with this is that I've dreamed of places I dreamed years ago and remember them in the exact same detail death & destruction someone often myself always ends up dying and stuff gets broken lol & finally driving, even before I'd ever taken a driving lesson I used to dream of driving and feel the full fluid motions of doing so, when I finally took lessons I was slightly scared at how accurate my brain had perceived the motions of driving in my dreams before I'd ever got behind the wheel of a real car.

I do not think so. You just have to recognize that you are asleep and whenever you are in a bad situation say "Wake up" or say "Is this possible". That’s how to beat a nightmare! Use your logic!

I had just woken up from a lucid dream... Actually, my first one. I was at an Egyptian-themed movie theatre while drifting into and out of sleep. The reason for that was I was trying to get some rest and still make it to my classes in time... Anyway, I realized in a seemingly-REM state that I was dreaming and declared it a lucid dream. I jumped up, began to fly, and woke up immediately after reaching a few feet... :(

Never been able to achieve one. I've even tried these recordings with weird music and a guy whispering a gadzillion times how I will have a lucid dream and remember it but to no avail. I stopped it because it irritated me and actually worsened my insomnia.

I don't really have much to say about this, but I enjoyed reading your dreams. I've only had maybe about 5 or 6 lucid dreams my entire life. I think its pretty awesome that you have them so often.

Hey why thank you, you say five or 6? Hey that's more than me. It's just crazy I've had the last 3 so close to each other..it's been like this single month has brought me the most in my entire life. Without using binaural beats btw...

I'm awaiting my 5th one, which I believe can come tonight i'm preparing for it. Do you use any techniques, aware of the WILD technique (Waking Induced Lucid Dreaming)?

Nope, sorry. I can't help you with any techniques. Mine just randomly happen. And they always seem really weird too. But thats pretty amazing that yours have been happening one after the other. Mine aren't like that, which makes me believe you might be uncovering some kind of technique. What is the WILD technique you speak of, and is that what you're using?

          (WILD) Waking Induced Lucid Dreaming.

Imagine your awake. It's when your awake at night about to fall asleep. When your in that drowsy state, half awake, head nodding feeling (Now, of course you can try this from a fully awakened state, but it's much more effective when you know your tired from the day or something like that) this is what you need to do. Keep Aware. Stay aware of being awake while falling asleep. Sounds weird huh? It's okay I thought the same thing too first time I heard it. But it's entirely possible and millions of lucid dreamers out there do it everyday to achieve a level of induced lucidity in their dreams that rivals the inception movie.

When you're about to fall asleep you enter the "Hypnagogic State." This is when you start to see "images" when you close your eyes and stare off into the blackness. Or have your ever fallen asleep talking on the cellphone? And you start talking incoherently because your so sleepy? If you have it's that sort of state that is best for this method.

Now when your experiencing those images just watch them, don't immerse yourself too completely, just feel that you are drifting surely to sleep. Soon your body positioning will feel like it has melted into the bed. Like your hand is nowhere near your arm...these are all good signs. When you are this deep into the state focus on one, or make a dream scenery that you would wish to enter. This will come as the images go by your eyes. Then "will" or "focus" yourself in that dream scene and soon you will be in it. Try not to get too excited lol, but I have more advice but this honestly works. It takes practice but is entirely doable. Let me know what happens and keep a dream log...

Nearly 80% of my dreams are lucid dreams. I considered this normal, and it would frighten me when I couldn't control my dreams. It was around 4th grade that one of my friends explained to me that my own experiences were abnormal.

80% is an amazing number. Your talking 3/4 of your dreams are lucid...it's probably a wonder what you do while exploring such a great talent...

I used to make whatever I wanted happen. It was fantastic, really. My control increases during times of depression. Now, I usually like to let the dream take its course and see what sort of ridiculousness my subconscious throws at me.
