Is it normal that the deep water on google maps makes me nauseous

Ever since I learned about plate techtonics and the ring of fire I have had an irrational fear growing of going down to deep and getting sucked into the earths core. I realize that this is physically impossible to even go down far enough that lack of oxygen or pressure from the water would kill me first. And although I've rationalized this much of my fear, whenever I'm on google maps or see pictures of water that goes from shallow to deep really quickly I get nauseous and feel deeply afraid. But the thing is I'm not afraid of flying or swimming in the ocean. But I do stay to the shallow end..

I'm not like that with water, but I can't look at islands or "open" space on Google Maps and I hate zooming in on those apps

Not normal in my case, but I LOVE water.

Yeah it's normal. It's actually called Agoraphobia, which is a phobia of being alone, sounds strange I know, but it's more so being alone in an unfamiliar setting. Some Agoraphobes (If that's a word) fear open spaces or huge open bodies of water :-) So don't worry, it is very, very common.

Not just me, then. I rationalise it like my fear of heights. When you suddenly move into deep water, you're further from the surface of the earth. It's honestly making me queasy just talking about it, so I'm going to stop.

I go on Google maps all the time!!! Some of the pictures featured on there are really interesting. It's cool to see places that are usually high inaccessible.

Your fear is rational. Deep water freaks the shit out of me too.
