Is it normal that the ''butterflies in my stomach'' feel like a stab?

I've heard about having butterflies in my stomach, and I don't really understand why they're called "butterflies" because it really feels more like someone is stabbing me. I have no idea how getting stabbed feels, though. I just don't think this is normal because most people talk about having butterflies in your stomach like it's really pleasant and fun. I do find it pleasant because pain turns me on but I don't think anyone else would enjoy it.

    Well... firstly you should stab yourself. just get the giant elephant out of the room and clear the air and your restless mind.

    Secondly... what you are experiencing is not the proverbial 'butterflies in your stomach'. it is actually acute appendicitis.

    I think it's normal for it to feel like a stab, and it feels awful, but what bewilders me is why would it turn you on...?

    Butterflies in your stomach is nervousness. It wouldn't feel like that. Butterflies come with sweaty palms for some people. You should get that checked out.
