Throughout my life I've noticed teens are sexually active and some of them are attracted to adults and are willing to consent to have sex with adults, if this is the case why is it illegal and immoral for adult-teenage relationships when no one is getting hurt?
What age are we talking about here?
Generally speaking, I think it might be because people change a lot when they're young, they're still growing. Of course it depends, but adults seem more stable and mature, they have a better idea of what they want and what they believe. Teenagers and I'm guessing even people in their 20s are still developing as people, they might not be mature or developed enough to handle something like that, even though some seem to think they are..
It's completely normal. As a teen I liked an older guy. And now were engaged. He's 10 years older then me, and it ended up a great thing. If you like someone you like someone.
I'm nineteen and would love to get in the sack with a woman older than 25, even 35, are you kidding me?
The law was created for the safety of the minor.
Most often (well always) the young teenager was being abused.
Well, I was never sexually active, but as a teen, I was, in no sense, attracted to anyone my own age. Infact, I've always been attracted to guys that are much older than me. Usually there around 4 to 5 years older than I am. I wouldn't call it abnormal, but they shouldn't be having sex with adults, of course. I'm not a parent and I don't ever wish or long to be, but I would say parents need to talk to there kids about sex and attractions and explain to them the issues with sex especially with someone that is too old for them. Make sure they know that there partner can be arrested for the act and how much trouble one can get into.
It's because they want to BE adults and some think they can live vicariously through them in a relationship. The fact of the matter is adults and teenagers are VERY different. I would strongly question the judgment of any adult, female or male, who carried on an intimate relationship with a teenage child. Teens might look like adults but they just don't have the life experience or brain development yet to have an adult perspective.
Why it's illegal? Because they're not adults, simply put. They are at a stage when they are still discovering their bodies and sexuality. It would be harmful to put them in an adult relationship. This can either end with them being used or in a relationship far too serious than they're ready for. It's best for them to handle this with other teenagers.
Relationships between adults and teens can also lead to underage drinking.
It's normal for a teen to be attracted to an adult since they are on the road to adulthood themselves. They're learning what they like. This does not make it normal to have a relationship with an adult. Teenagers and adults are very different. You can argue that some teens mature faster but just as easily you'll find teenagers that mature later. Even at age 18 when it's legal to have a relationship with adults I would recommend they stay close to their own age group.
Some adults take advantage of minors, if there weren't a law to prevent them then a lot of molestation charges wouldn't be made. Minors generally don't know what there doing n haven't matured yet.
When you're a teen you idolize adults. I was always into way older partners.
Why would older guys be attracted to young teenage girls in the first place? Can't they find girls their own age? I'm 17 and to be honest I have no idea about love or life obviously neither does anyone else my age so that's why dating someone who's in their late 20s is probably a bad idea because I doubt that someone that old would be looking for commitment with a schoolgirl. Again just my opinion.
girls are attracted to older men for the sipmle reason that a girl's mind is mature sooner than a guy's so to it is normal to feel actrated by a person who is not immature, and rarely can be found a male tenager with the mind mature as a girl of the same age

Because adults know what they want in sex. Very young teens in their first flush of hormones only know what feels good, and things like "omg s/he's noticing ME?!"
it's not just about not knowing the risks of sex... but about not being able to say "no" when they're being overwhelmed by more attention that they're mature enough to handle.
In a nutshell a wrongfully minded adult can dazzle the fuck out of a horny teen and mold them into an obedient sex toy before the child can even figure their own sexuality out.
Which calls into question the assumption that "no one is getting hurt" idea.
And in the US there's another factor to consider - the statue of limitations in sexual molestation of minors. Many states allow minors to press charges up to THREE YEARS after they come of age.
So, if that teen changes his or her mind and decides it wasn't consensual... they may have quite a few years left before they can no longer press charges.
Because a lot of the adults prey on young girls, and there would be a lot more rape.
Im 18 myself and I know its kind of pedo ish (people might hate this comment but yea) I for some reason find girls younger than me sexually attractive now im talking 14 - 17 here I have seen some 14 year olds who are fucking hot I didn't hit on them or ask em out but damn its like now a days when they hit 14 slut mode engages and they would probably consent weather the law says so or not. Its impossible to catch these so called "Pedos" When both individuals are willing my friend for example is also 18 & he got caught fucking a 17 year old girl and went to jail for statutory rape and was called a pedo....IDK How thats being a pedo or rape if both are willing & 1 year apart.
well, in this economy, younger women are looking for stability and older people are a way that offers that, especially financially. they dont want to go thru those growing pains you might call it trying to struggle from paycheck to paycheck whereas the older person has been thru that and a lot of the older people has already have a retirement in place and offers that sense of stability without all that worry of finance.
It's that "when no one is getting hurt" part that's tricky. The fear is that adults could often manipulate a teenager into consenting, even when they would get hurt. Clearly the solution of banning all such relationships is not ideal. But figuring out what to replace it with is harder.
Though I do like the idea of having an intermediate category between where it's not necessarily illegal, but they would use a tougher standard for establishing consent.
They aren't. Still got called "sorry too old" by one today on kik. Note that I didn't know she was a teen when I added her but it still hurts lol
Some countries have laws allowing teens under 18 to get married with parents' consent. At that point it would become legal.
So if you're after a teen, you must impress his/her parents too.

you can get married in a lot of states in this country at the age of 16 with parent consent.
This wouldn't be a bad system if it didn't require something with such broad legal consequences as marriage. Like if you could just pick up a Parental Consent for Intercourse form at the local post office and have them sign it.
Obviously parents make mistakes too, but considering they're necessarily trusted with responsibility for many aspects of their child's welfare already, it doesn't seem unreasonable.
It depends. Maybe if they're from sixteen over, but not younger. They might not understand exactly what it is they are engaging in, nor know of the risks. As adults, we should have more understanding of those risks.

It's illegal because a teenager and an adult can't have an equal relationship. Teenagers' brains haven't fully developed yet, and they're not mature enough to have relationships with adults. Generally, an emotionally healthy adult won't pursue a sexual relationship with a teenager. A teenager in a relationship with an adult doesn't have the emotional tools to recognise the kind of manipulation that adults can use. The power dynamics in that situation are completely fucked up. For example, the teenager might be so eager to please the adult that they consent to sexual activities that they're not actually ready for.
It depends on what kind of age difference we're talking about, of course. A 19 year old with a 17 year old is very different from a 19 year old with a 14 year old, but in many places, the age of consent is 16, so the former wouldn't be illegal anyway. If you're over 18 and you're pursuing a sexual relationship with somebody who's under 16, there is something wrong with you.
